A Cleveland museum that for 20 years displayed a supposed lock of Amelia Earhart's hair has discovered by DNA analysis that it was just a pile of thread.

The International Women's Air and Space Museum said it obtained the clump from the Smithsonian, which got it from a man in Pennsylvania.
